Pakistani Survivor Shares Harrowing Experience of Mediterranean Sea Crossing

In a story of resilience and survival, a Pakistani national has emerged as one of the few survivors of a tragic Mediterranean Sea crossing that claimed the lives of many. The survivor, whose identity is being withheld for safety reasons, recounted the perilous journey that saw a rickety vessel overcrowded with migrants sink in treacherous waters.

The ill-fated voyage began with hope for a better future but quickly turned into a nightmare. The survivor described how the boat, carrying over 200 passengers, capsized amidst rough seas. “The waves were relentless, and the boat couldn’t hold up. People were screaming and trying to stay afloat,” the survivor recalled.

Authorities reported that dozens of bodies have been recovered, while search and rescue operations continue to locate the missing. Humanitarian organizations have expressed deep concern over the increasing number of dangerous crossings in recent months.

The survivor highlighted the desperate conditions that drive many to undertake such perilous journeys, including economic hardships and lack of opportunities. “We had no choice. Staying back meant no future,” they said with tears in their eyes.

The tragedy has reignited calls for better policies to address the root causes of migration and provide safer pathways for those seeking refuge or opportunities abroad.
