Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, strongly condemned any attempts to forcibly relocate Palestinians, calling it a form of “ethnic cleansing” during his address at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting.
Speaking at the OIC’s emergency session on Saturday, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and urged the international community to take immediate action against the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
“The forced displacement of Palestinians is a blatant violation of international law and humanitarian principles. Any attempt to forcibly relocate them constitutes ethnic cleansing, and we must not remain silent,” Dar stated in his speech.
The high-level OIC meeting was convened to discuss the escalating violence and worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, as Israeli military operations continue to displace thousands of Palestinian families. Dar urged OIC member states to unite and take collective diplomatic action to hold Israel accountable for its actions.
“The Muslim world cannot stand by as innocent civilians suffer. We call for an immediate ceasefire, an end to illegal settlements, and the provision of urgent humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine,” he added.
Dar also emphasized the need for global powers, including the United Nations and the European Union, to intervene and ensure that Israel abides by international legal frameworks. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
Pakistan has consistently voiced its support for the Palestinian people at international forums, calling for an end to Israeli occupation and urging greater action from the OIC and the United Nations. The OIC, comprising 57 member states, has historically backed Palestinian rights but faces challenges in formulating a unified response to the ongoing crisis.
As the situation in Gaza worsens, calls for diplomatic intervention and urgent humanitarian assistance continue to grow. The OIC is expected to release a joint statement outlining further steps to support Palestinians and address the humanitarian emergency.
The international community now watches closely to see how OIC nations will translate their condemnation into concrete actions to prevent further displacement and violence in the region.
