Islamabad, March 6, 2025 – Pakistan has strongly rejected recent remarks by Indian External Affairs Minister [FM’s Name], who claimed that Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is part of India. Islamabad dismissed the statement as “misleading, baseless, and a distortion of historical facts.”
In a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Pakistan reiterated that AJK is a sovereign territory administered by Pakistan and that India has no legal or moral claim over it. The FO further accused New Delhi of attempting to misrepresent the longstanding dispute over Jammu and Kashmir, which remains a subject of international concern.
“Such statements reflect India’s continued denial of ground realities and its attempts to mislead the international community,” the Foreign Office spokesperson said. “Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute that must be resolved in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.”
Pakistan also emphasized that India’s efforts to assert control over AJK are part of a broader strategy to divert attention from its own human rights violations in Indian-administered Kashmir. The FO called upon the international community to hold India accountable for its actions and to push for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
Tensions between India and Pakistan over Kashmir have persisted for decades, with both nations asserting claims over the region. The dispute has led to multiple wars and ongoing diplomatic friction between the nuclear-armed neighbors.
International Response & Regional Impact
Pakistan urged global organizations, including the United Nations, to take note of India’s rhetoric and to reaffirm the right of Kashmiris to self-determination. Meanwhile, analysts warn that such statements could further strain Indo-Pak relations at a time when regional stability is crucial.
As diplomatic tensions continue to rise, both nations remain at odds over the future of Kashmir, with Pakistan standing firm in its stance that any resolution must be in line with international agreements and the will of the Kashmiri people.
