The aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ-900LR, was attempting to land at approximately 2:15 p.m. local time when it crashed, overturned, and came to rest upside down on the snow-covered runway. Passenger John Nelson described the landing as routine until the plane hit the ground “super hard,” skidded sideways, and then flipped over. He recounted a chaotic scene as passengers hung upside down, unbuckled themselves, and evacuated the aircraft.

Emergency responders, including six fire engines, a tanker, and 18 paramedic units, swiftly arrived at the scene. All passengers and crew were evacuated before the aircraft caught fire.
