Hamas Announces Names of Hostages Set for Release on Saturday

Hamas has revealed the names of three Israeli hostages scheduled for release on Saturday as part of an ongoing ceasefire agreement with Israel. The individuals set to be freed are:

  • Iair Horn (46) – An Israeli-Argentinian citizen.
  • Sagui Dekel-Chen (36) – An Israeli-American.
  • Alexandre “Sasha” Troufanov (29) – An Israeli-Russian national.

All three were abducted during the October 7, 2023, attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz, where approximately 80 of the 400 residents were taken hostage. Iair Horn was captured alongside his brother, Eitan Horn, who remains in captivity. Dekel-Chen was seized while working on a bus renovation; his wife, Avital, managed to hide with their two daughters and later gave birth to a third child in December. Troufanov was taken along with his grandmother, mother, and girlfriend; his father was killed during the attack. His other family members were released in a previous ceasefire.

In exchange for the hostages, Israel is expected to release 369 Palestinian prisoners and detainees. This exchange is part of a broader ceasefire deal mediated by Egypt and Qatar, which has facilitated multiple hostage-prisoner swaps since January 2025.

The ceasefire remains fragile, with accusations of violations by both sides. However, ongoing mediation efforts have helped maintain the truce and facilitate negotiations. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, emphasizing the importance of humane treatment for all detainees and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
